Voters to Decide on $62.5M Public Safety Building in November

Cleburne residents will vote Nov. 3, 2026, on whether to fund a new facility that would bring the police department, fire administration and municipal court under one roof. The city council approved placing the measure on the ballot as Proposition A, according to City of Cleburne news. The proposed building would sit on about six acres of city-owned land near North Nolan River Road and Airport Drive. It would also include space for emergency operations, training and community use. A nine-member study group reviewed the project and recommended the council pursue the bond. The current police headquarters was built in the mid-1960s, when Cleburne's population was roughly 15,700. The city now counts nearly 39,000 residents. If approved, the bonds are estimated to add about $0.053 per $100 of taxable value to property tax bills — roughly $53 a year for a home with $100,000 in taxable value.
