Cleburne Council Cuts Tax Rate, Approves New City Budget

The Cleburne City Council voted Sept. 22 to adopt the fiscal year 2027 budget and set a lower property tax rate, according to City of Cleburne news. The new budget takes effect Oct. 1. The spending plan directs resources toward public safety, infrastructure, parks and city employees while accounting for continued residential and commercial growth in the area. Council members reviewed the budget at an August workshop and held public hearings before the final vote. Mayor Derek Weathers said the council worked through the tax rate multiple times before settling on a final figure, with a focus on police and fire readiness, infrastructure and parks.
