Cleburne Voters to Decide on $62.5M Public Safety Bond in November

Cleburne residents will vote Nov. 3, 2026, on whether to authorize $62.5 million in general obligation bonds to build a new facility housing the Police Department, Fire Administration, and Municipal Court. The City Council approved an ordinance placing the measure on the ballot as Proposition A. According to City of Cleburne news, the push for new facilities stems from years of space-needs assessments. The current police headquarters was built in 1966-67, when the city had roughly 15,700 residents. Today that number stands near 38,926. The proposed building would sit on about 6 acres of city-owned land near North Nolan River Road and Airport Drive and would also include emergency operations, training space, and areas for community use. If approved, the bonds are estimated to raise property taxes by about $0.053 per $100 of taxable value — roughly $53 a year for a home with $100,000 in taxable value, though the final figure could vary.
