Cleburne Railroad Artifacts Headed to State History Museum in Austin

Nine artifacts from the Cleburne Railroad Museum are now on loan to the Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin, where they will be displayed through the end of next year. The items — including a Santa Fe hard hat, a worker's lunchbox, safety goggles, and shop blueprints — were selected to illustrate daily life for Cleburne residents who worked the railroad, according to yahoo.com. The Bullock Museum reached out to Cleburne Railroad Museum and Layland Museum Manager Stephanie Montero after she and assistant Nick Heffner attended the Texas Association of Museums conference in Austin earlier this year. The state museum regularly borrows items from local institutions across Texas. Montero said the loan also creates room at the local museum to put previously unseen acquisitions on display. The Bullock has drawn more than 9 million visitors since opening roughly 15 years ago, giving Cleburne's history exposure to audiences from across Texas and beyond.
