Cleburne residents will vote on a $62.5 million bond proposal on Nov. 3, 2026. According to the City of Cleburne, the City Council called the special election, with early voting running Oct. 19–30.
Proposition A would authorize general obligation bonds to build a new Public Safety Facility on about 6 acres of city-owned land near North Nolan River Road and Airport Drive. The building would consolidate the Police Department, Fire Administration, Municipal Court, emergency operations, training space, and community use under one roof. The current police headquarters was built in 1966–67, when the city's population was roughly 15,700; today it stands near 38,926.
If approved, the bonds are estimated to add about $0.053 per $100 of taxable value to the tax rate — roughly $53 a year for every $100,000 of taxable property value, though the final figure could vary. A nine-member study group reviewed the project and recommended the council put the measure before voters. More information is at cleburne.net/bond2026.
