Cleburne Officer Shot in Leg After Chase Ends at Burleson Sam's Club

A Cleburne police officer was shot in the leg Monday night following a vehicle pursuit that began in Cleburne and ended in a shooting at the Sam's Club on North Burleson Boulevard in Burleson. The wounded officer was transported to a Fort Worth hospital in stable condition. According to officer.com, the incident started around 7 p.m. when officers responded to a call about someone brandishing a firearm. A chase followed, moving through Alvarado and north along Interstate 35W before the suspect stopped near the Sam's Club. A shooting occurred at that location, and the suspect — whose identity has not been released — died at the scene. Two Johnson County sheriff's deputies were also involved. The Texas Rangers are investigating, as required by department protocol. Burleson police and EMS responded to assist but were not part of the shooting. Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
