Cleburne Dedicates Permanent Sept. 11 Monument at City Park
Cleburne dedicated a monument featuring a steel beam from the World Trade Center towers during a September 11 remembrance ceremony. The dedication represents a significant step in establishing a permanent memorial site for the artifact in the city.
Cleburne formally dedicated the Cleburne Honor Monument on Sept. 11 during a morning ceremony at Winston Patrick McGregor Park, marking 25 years since the terrorist attacks. Residents, first responders, veterans, students and city leaders gathered for the event, which included performances by Cleburne High School's band, choir and JROTC color guard, along with a moment of silence for the nearly 3,000 people killed that day.
According to City of Cleburne news, the centerpiece of Phase I is a steel beam from the World Trade Center towers, donated to the Cleburne Fire Department after the 2001 attacks. The monument's design was approved by City Council in December 2025 following work by an advisory committee and design consultants. Finishing work at the site is still ongoing.
A planned Phase II would add military and veteran statues, a remembrance wall, donor wall and other improvements. That phase depends on outside funding to be raised through the Cleburne Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
