Cleburne Mayor Issues Three Proclamations Honoring Patriots, Constitution

Cleburne Mayor Derek Weathers issued three proclamations at a recent city council meeting marking 9/11 Remembrance Day, POW/MIA Recognition Day and Constitution Week, according to yahoo.com. Members of the American Legion Auxiliary and the local Daughters of the American Revolution chapter joined council members for the ceremony. Weathers, a veteran who said the Sept. 11 attacks prompted him to enlist in the Army, called on residents to honor the 2,977 people killed that day and to look after their neighbors and community. A ceremony honoring POW/MIA veterans is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at American Legion Post 50, 313 W. Chambers St., and the public is welcome. To mark Constitution Week, Cleburne's DAR and American Legion are encouraging residents, businesses and organizations to ring bells at 3 p.m. Sept. 17 in recognition of the 239th anniversary of the drafting of the U.S. Constitution. Representatives from both groups plan to ring bells at Cleburne City Hall and the Johnson County Courthouse.
