Johnson County JumpStart needs cash, raffle prizes, and volunteers ahead of its April 22 fundraiser at the Cleburne Conference Center, according to yahoo.com. The nonprofit uses donated money to pay for dual-credit courses at Hill College for Johnson County high school students who do not qualify for free tuition.
Last year, JumpStart awarded 176 scholarships to students from schools including Godley, Grandview, Rio Vista, and Joshua, among others. The number of scholarships given each year depends directly on how much money is raised.
Founder Gary Dollgener is also promoting the JumpStart 15 Club, which asks supporters to pledge $15 a month — enough to cover one dual-credit course for one student. To donate, volunteer, or learn more, visit jumpstartjohnsoncounty.com or call 817-944-4203.
