Cleburne City Council lowers tax rate, adopts fiscal year 2027 budget

The Cleburne City Council adopted its fiscal year 2027 budget and lowered the property tax rate at its Sept. 22 meeting, according to City of Cleburne news. The new budget takes effect Oct. 1. The spending plan directs resources toward public safety, infrastructure, parks and city employee needs. Council members reviewed the budget during an Aug. 11 workshop and held public hearings before the final vote. Mayor Derek Weathers said the process involved multiple rounds of review to ensure spending focused on police and fire readiness, infrastructure and parks while keeping the tax rate as low as possible.
