The City of Cleburne has received the 2026 Planning Excellence Award from the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association, marking the second consecutive year the city has earned the honor. The award comes through the Richard R. Lillie, FAICP Planning Excellence Recognition Program, which evaluates Texas municipalities on staff qualifications, planning documents, and completed planning projects.
The city's Development Review Committee, which brings staff from multiple departments together to evaluate proposed developments, was cited as part of the city's coordinated approach to growth. The committee helps applicants move through the development process while addressing potential concerns early.
Cleburne received the same recognition in 2025.
